Классическая PE-работа. Гипнотические ритмы, взрывы дисторшна, вокальные экзерсисы и тотальное социально-политическое недовольство в лирике - все на месте и в лучшем виде.
'Hailing from Argentina Argentum are a prolific unit known here for their well presented cdrs over the years, having made 10 albums over the last three years, this is the album they describe as their first exclusively Power Electronics album. They have made albums spanning different closely related genres.
Insurrection opens the album, the noises is minimally harsh yet coupled with Dark ambience gives the listener a sense of uncertainty and bubbling eruption. Slave immediately carries on giving that feeling with vocals beginning to break out.. Argentum’s Power Electronics is strong in that they allow the electronics to drone, fart and oscillate outwards from there, the vocals work well in sync, adding more and more intensity as the anger of the vocal increases and certain elements are distorted and the track ‘They Lie’ is an excellent example of this. They have a strong use of Power Electronics that is refined throughout the album to allow the vocals to work to convey an obviously political powerful message. Argentum seem to be about action not impotent displays of power, it could be argued that they should include lyric sheets or a higher clarification of the vocal arrangements; however the albums’ titles signify intention well. Furthering that; the vocals do work as a compliment noise, over clarification may ruin that.
Overall We Are the Fire is essentially a Power Electronics project sonically they are in good stead, they handle PE well. On this release, Haus Arafna could be considered to be working in a similar vein. They share that pissed off ness that pulses violently with vocals erupting into rage, with Power Electronic sounds and pulsing slow beats. It would be fair to say We Are the Fires’ vocals and beats also puts them into the vein of the Death Industrial genre as the intensity of their politics and what they are saying is extreme. A do or die attitude.
However we are in our fourth decade of Power Electronics, there are tons of myspace PE projects active. so I would urge more experimentation to break from the crowd. I’d like to see Argentum be even more radical in sound as they are politically. By this I mean traditionally PE units tend to delve into taboo subject matter, so when the theme is politics, an artists needs to make political into a deep personal presentation to avoid falling into punky preachiness. Radicalising the sound would mean wider contrasts of sounds used, other sources of sound and even better production. Looking at their myspace, Argentum have mastered a lot of different sounds to good effect on different albums: Martial, Neo Classical and now; Power Electronics. Throw them all together blur the boundaries and true greatness will follow.'
